A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US...

Provide Devon is a Christian charity providing food and other essentials to people in poverty within Plymouth and the surrounding area. Using a combination of fresh produce and donated surplus food from retailers, a requested food parcel can usually be provided to our referral agents to deliver within 24 hours. We aim to give individuals immediate relief from food insecurity while they explore longer term support through the appropriate channels.

We started within Hope Baptist Church, Plymouth, as a result of surplus food donations made to the Soup Run. Linking with local primary schools to see if any families would appreciate the food, it quickly became clear how great the need was. More than 2 years later and with 100's of food hampers having been supplied, the charity Provide Devon was born.

We now work with the majority of the primary schools in the area, as well as churches and other charities and are exploring other ways to help retailers provide their surplus food to communities in need.

CRISIS FOOD HAMPERS

Food hampers for individuals & families in financial need throughout the year.

We welcome donations of longer life foods such as tins, packets and cereals throughout the year. These are used to supplement the fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products which make up our food hampers. If you would like to donate items, please get in touch.

CHRISTMAS FOOD HAMPERS

Sponsor a Sprout Campaign

Christmas can be an expensive & stressful time for any family and for those living with financial difficulties, just putting food on the table can be overwhelming.

Each year we ask our supporters to consider sponsoring an item to go into a Christmas hamper, which will be delivered to a family or individual in need within the Plymouth area. All hamper recipients are identified by the referral agencies we have been working with throughout the year. If you would like to 'Sponsor a Sprout' or any item to go in or Christmas hamper, just let us know.

HOLIDAY HAMPERS

Food hampers to help families through the longer school holidays during Summer & Easter.

During the school holidays families are unable to access free school meals on which they might rely. Many organisations and clubs are being set up to help with this and our food hampers aim to supplement this need. These are set up with the school referral agencies before the term ends. If you want to support us and get involved with fighting holiday hunger, please get in touch.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Getting involved

Provide Devon has many volunteer opportunities and are always happy to explore new ways of reaching communities. If you can spare an hour, a day or want to help us on a more regular basis, we want to hear from you.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help in the following areas:

Drivers - collecting food from retailers or groups with larger food donations
Drivers - delivering food hampers to our referral agents
Organisers - sorting out donated food
Shoppers - buying fresh food as needed
Fundraisers
Growers - If you are a keen gardener and have an excess of produce, please consider donating to us to be used in our crisis food hampers
